Youth Group

On Thursday nights throughout the year, our Youth Group for teens meets. The 90 minutes are divided up in this way:

The first 30 minutes:  activity time (volleyball outdoors and ping pong indoors are two of our favorite games!);
The middle 45 minutes:  Bible study, often including Bible memory;
The final 15 minutes:   a time of sharing prayer requests and praying for them; and a snack time.

Among the subjects of our recent Bible studies, we have looked at a survey of Bible doctrine; the books of Colossians and 2 Timothy. We are currently studying God's Portrait of a Godly Teenager, a series of lessons on how Christian teens can live for the Lord in the world in which they live.

We also plan monthly group activities besides on Thursday. Some of these are with our state fellowship of churches: there is a volleyball tournament in the fall; a retreat in the winter, usually hosted by us at Open Door; a Bible Quiz in the spring; and Camp Tishomingo in the summer. In addition, we enjoy other times together; recently, we have hiked Thumb Butte in Prescott; visited the old mining town of Jerome; gone fishing at a nearby lake; had a Christmas party, including caroling, looked at Christmas displays, enjoyed dinner at Pizza Hut; and attended an Arizona Diamondbacks baseball game.

Youth Group is for teenagers in grades 7-12; we typically meet on Thursday nights throughout the school year (as well as most Thursdays during the summer) from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.
